Embark on a fairly gentle 12 km trail through Galle’s inland countryside. As you glide along, glimpse vibrant kingfishers flitting in the trees, local temples burning incense, and emerald paddy fields, tea estates and cinnamon plantations. Travelling by bike gives you the chance to meander at a leisurely pace, soaking in the serenity of this off-the-beaten-track area. En route, stop for a refreshing thambili (King Coconut) and sample some traditional Sri Lankan delicacies. Let us know if you would like to extend your route beyond the standard 12 km.

Is the bike trail suitable for all fitness levels?

Yes, the bike trail through Galle’s countryside is designed to be fairly gentle, making it suitable for participants of varying fitness levels. The pace is leisurely, allowing riders to enjoy the scenery and soak in the serenity of the area without feeling rushed.

Bicycles are typically provided as part of the experience, equipped with all necessary safety gear and accessories. 

While restroom facilities may be limited along the bike trail, rest stops are strategically planned to include opportunities for bathroom breaks and refreshments. Additionally, your guide will be knowledgeable about the area and can provide assistance or recommendations as needed. It’s always a good idea to bring along any necessary personal items, such as tissue paper and hand sanitizer, for convenience.

The experience is totally off-the-beaten-path

The scenery was breathtaking, with emerald paddy fields, lush tea estates, and fragrant cinnamon plantations stretching as far as the eye could see. Riding at a leisurely pace allowed me to fully appreciate the tranquility of the area and soak in the sights and sounds of rural Sri Lanka. The stops for Thambili (King Coconut) were a welcome treat, rejuvenating me for the rest of the journey. The experience is totally off-the-beaten-path which shows the beauty of Galle’s countryside.
