Giants of the Ocean

There is a continental shelf remarkably close to Sri Lanka’s south coast. This allows larger marine mammals to prosper relatively close to the coastline, feeding off nutrients that flow out to sea from shore. This makes Sri Lanka one of the best places in the world to see whales in the wild, and you can be there and back within half a day.

  • See a variety of marine mammals in their natural habitat
  • A 90% chance of witnessing whales in the wild in season
  • Unwind while surrounded by nothing but the Indian Ocean

What's Included ?

Light, cool clothing.

Catch a glimpse of some of the ocean’s most majestic inhabitants in their natural habitat on an exciting whale watching trip. Large groups of whales are a sure sighting between December and April, just half-an-hour from the shore from Mirissa Harbour. As well as sperm and blue whales, you could see orcas, spinner and bottlenose dolphins, sting rays and marine turtles. Your vessel is small yet swift and allows for great sightings while remaining a safe distance away from the wildlife.
